🎇 English Below

COSCUP 2023 CoC

As 2023 draws to a close, it's a fitting time to reiterate our Code of Conduct (a.k.a, CoC), especially as we wrap up COSCUP 2023 and gear up for COSCUP 2024.

This year, we've updated the COSCUP CoC. Considering the workload of the volunteer organizing team, we generally limit the handling of raised concerns to within two months after the reported behavior. However, This doesn't mean we'll ignore reportsfiled later, but timely reporting is crucial for preserving evidence, resolving issues, and implementing preventive measures in the future.

The COSCUP 2023 (CoC) Committee still received reports of harassment. We prioritize the wishes of those involved, maintain communication, offer support, and strive to create a safe and friendly environment. We urge all participants to follow our code of conduct, respect others' wishes and privacy, and help maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone to fully engage in and enjoy our community events.

Participants in COSCUP include volunteers, speakers, community coordinators, staff, partners/sponsors, and attendees. Each role has a different impact on the event. Here are some reminders for specific roles:

If you're a Speaker:

Even with over 300 speakers this year at COSCUP, we can't overlook the influence of speaking from the stage. Knowledge, expertise, and authority should not excuse disrespect. We encourage diverse opinions and perspectives and welcome anyone with ideas on open-source topics to join as a speaker.

If you're a Community Partner:

You're responsible for arranging community sessions, selecting submissions, and holding speakers' contact information. It's crucial to keep this data confidential, use it only when necessary, and not share it without proper authorization.

If you're a Volunteer:

COSCUP, with free admission, is organized by passionate volunteers who contribute their time, effort, and expertise. We encourage our volunteers to understand the needs of diverse participants, ensure smooth event proceedings, and also take care of their own health and safety. Open communication and mutual support within the team are key.

If you're a Sponsor Partner:

We appreciate our sponsors for providing venues, funding, systems, services, and other resources, helping us build this large conference. We welcome sponsors who respect and share the COSCUP spirit of open-source and mutual benefit.

If you're an Attendee:

Your participation is vital to COSCUP, now in its eighteenth year and hosting over three thousand attendees. All the roles mentioned before are just one participant after setting aside their works. Each attendee also has the potential to be a speaker, community partner, volunteer, or sponsor of COSCUP. Everyone's experiences before, during, and after the event matter to us.

COSCUP welcomes everyone and encourages open and respectful dialogue to foster consensus and change, while upholding our community values.

If you encounter any issues mentioned in our CoC during or related to the conference, please report them to coc@coscup.org. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to working together to ensure the safety and respect of our community. For any suggestions or concerns, feel free to contact us.
